Reveal schedule

I'm looking forward to this quite a bit even though I didn't post a tag ballot myself. Its going to be really interesting to see what people valued in their teams because I think the 'great teams' are less clear cut.

For every team I would have considered on my list, I can think of a negative argument against them. For example a lot of teams on my mind had short runs or built their case against only a few opponents or only worked in one place or were only ever heels or faces and so on.

Realistically, I think Flair (or at a push maybe Funk or Misawa) were always going to be number one in the singles list. The top end of the tag list seems much more open to me.

not so sure the top of the tag ballot is any less obvious, though i guess there's the 2 versions of the MX to split votes. it's going to be them, the Rock 'n Rolls, and Holy Demon Army for sure. this is definitely a more "hardcore" voting base compared to the singles list, so i think it's easier to predict overall.

top 10 prediction in no particular order:

- both MX teams

- RnR Express

- Kawada/Taue

- Arn/Tully

- Fantastics

- Rockers

- Misawa/Kobashi

- The Funks

- Misawa/Akiyama

the last one i'm least confident in, feel like the first Misawa team will do better thanks to name value. both were in The Greatest Tag Matches of All Time though. don't think there are enough "outside" voters here to push the Hart Foundation or Bulldogs into the top 10 - if this got the kind of turnout that the singles list did, i'd have both of them as locks. the Steiners feel similar, but for some reason i think they'll do a bit better. Choshu/Yatsu is an intriguing dark horse to me, and i could also see Doc/Gordy even though they aren't intriguing in the slightest.

also lucha obviously gets systematically screwed here by being so trios-heavy, but less obvious is how Japanese wrestling also suffers a lot. they tend not to have many teams of tag specialists the way the US does, and they tend not to keep the same native teams together for years on end. this means that lots of their best tags don't feel like "real" tag teams to us Americans, and explains why we see Kawada/Taue as a level above any other JP team (because they actually did have an American career arc to go along with all the ***** matches).

I'm interested to see how the Funks do. I spent far less time thinking about the tag team ballot than the singles ballot and if I could do it again I'd put the Funks at 1 or 2. They're still my highest rated All Japan tag team but I put too many 80s territory teams ahead of them.

I'm glad the tag team list will be revealed soon, as I have been anticipating that since the start of this project, even more so than the singles.

My only gripe would be taking 30 days to reveal 25 teams seems a bit much. Interest will probably dwindle at that rate.

I understand it's 120 teams but agree there's little need to stretch it out over a whole month. If that's the pace Beast and Low Blow need to go at, it's understandable, and I appreciate their efforts. But this was never comparable to GWE, so I imagine a lot of us would be cool with a quicker roll out.

And in reality if we just want the simple stats of everything without all the extra production, we could probably do it that first week of June and have everything there. It is all about the production. Grimmas did an awesome job doing that piece along with promoting a lot of conversation, if that isn't going to happen with this list, we can simply go ahead and post the list with the stats and go from there to make it a simple process.

I guess I never thought about the teams that didn't make the 25. For some reason I thought it would just start at the 25th slot. Still seems a little long, but if that's what needs to be done it's more understandable now.
