August 24, 1995

It's been three months since Shoice Arai took over as president of FMW. With that move and with the retirement of Atsushi Onita, FMW has started to lose it's edge. It's hard to believe that on May 5th, FMW ran it's largest show in front of 58,250 fans at Kawasaki Stadium. The new generation of FMW took over on the next tour, led by stars like Hayabusa, Masato Tanaka and The Gladiator.

To make matters worse, the FMW World Brass Knuckles Heavyweight Championship is vacant. After Onita retired, the title was vacated, but since then Hayabusa became champion. However, he was forced to vacate the title on June 27th, the same night he won it. Here we are, two months later, and the title is still vacant.

The last few months can not be considered as transition period, as things are changing and the second great era of FMW has began with the hiring of Grimmas the FMW match maker. This ended Arai's idea of running a more sports entertainment style of promotion. From here on FMW will be the home of all wrestling styles. From the classic FMW death matches, to great technical wrestling, to high flyers, to lucha libre, to shoot style, to joshi, in FMW you will see it all.

With FMW's new focus, there has been a challenge changeover. FMW has kept on the talented: Hayabusa, Masato Tanaka, The Gladiator, Hisakatsu Oya, Ricky Fuji, Super Leather, Mitsuharu Matsunaga, Koji Nakagawa, Katsutoshi Niiyama, W*ING Kanemura, Horace Boulder, Megumi Kudo, Combat Toyoda, Crusher Maedomori, Shark Tuchiya, and Miwa Saito. On top of that great talent, FMW will bring back former FMW stars in Mr. Gannosuke, Sabu, and Terry Funk.

If that wasn't enough, FMW has scoured the world to bring you fresh new talent in the form of:

Big Boss Man, Jinsei Shinzaki, Daisuke Ikdea, La Parka, Hanzo Nakajima, Yuji Yasuraoaka, Takako Inoue, Mayumi Ozaki, and Chigusa Nagayo.

ShinFMW95.JPG

With all of this talent the next tour from September 14th to 26th will be huge. Over the whole tour their will be an eight man round robin tournament with the winner becoming the new FMW World Brass Knuckles Heavyweight Champion.

Competing in this FMW Grand Slam will be:

Hayabusa

Masato Tanaka

The Gladiator

Terry Funk

Sabu

Big Boss Man

Mr. Gannosuke

Jinsei Shinzaki

Whoever can survive this grueling Grand Slam will truly be worthy of champion. With the new leadership in FMW, rules will now be enforced with twenty counts on the floor and disqualifications in place. However, all of these rules will be waved in every Brass Knuckles Title match as well as in this tournament. Select matches will also have special stipulations, to be announced soon.

There will be a press conference on September 13th before the tour stars with all the talent from FMW. Including Damian 666 from Mexico, The mysterious Headhunters, and WWF Women's Champion Monster Ripper, who will be on the upcoming tour.

Stay tuned for future announcements regarding FMW and this tour in this very thread, as a new day has arrived! All of this talent is ready to prove themselves and you don't want to miss a moment of it.

Oh, man. The last night of that tournament. That travel schedule is just hellish, though. Gunma to Kochi to Nara ito Shimane in 5 days? That's gonna be almost as hard on the boys as the matches. Glad to see my home prefecture of Nara and my mother in law's home prefecture of Kochi getting some live pro wrestling. The crowds in Kochi should be fun to work in front of. Lots of hard-drinking fishermen.

What's funny is that I had no idea it was a bad schedule, I just copied FMW's real life schedule. I guess, what were they thinking?

I can't wait to see what the future holds for La Parka in FMW. I said it before and I'll say it again, that is my favorite pick in the entire draft. Parka got screwed out of the Brass Knucks Tournament and I demand vengeance! I'm having visions of chairs and burning Hayabusa masks!

La Parka will be a slow build to such major stuff. In 1995 he was a popular underneath luchador and this will be his first tour of Japan. It will take time before he's main eventing against Hayabusa (however him vs Sabu or Hayabusa will be a big future goal). This first tour (in September) will be to establish La Parka has someone the fans want to see.

Boss Man in FMW is brilliant

In 95, he is nearing the end of super worker period. I feel I have a short time with him in a top role, so he will be featured quite well in the beginning. Boss Man might not be too happy with having a serial killer in Super Leather on the roster....

  • 2 weeks later...

Shoichi Arai was interviewed for a local newspaper. A few notes of interest are:

- Arai made fun of Shoot Style, King's Road style, Strong Style, and claimed the only truly great wrestling style is FMW's "Death Style". Misawa, Kawada, Hashimoto, Chono, Mutoh may all be great in their own way, but none of their flashy moves stand up against a good barbed-wire baseball bat to the head. The thing that makes "Death Style" so great is that it combines all wrestling styles into one plus adds weapons. "Death Style" is the only style that proves who the toughest wrestlers alive are. FMW is the "Master of Death Style" and this Grand Slam tournament will prove who the true master is.

- Arai claimed that the Big Boss Man was not too happy to be in the same promotion as a serial killer in Super Leather. He stands for justice and there is no justice in serial killing. Super Leather did not like those remarks and said he will be in his friend Terry Funk's corner when they meet up in the Grand Slam on September 24th.

- Arai is excited by the new talent. Not just the raid on the WING promotion that has closed it's doors, but also bringing in Sabu, Big Boss man and La Parka from North America. People in Japan know the first two, and when they see La Parka that will fall in love with him too.

- A few matches added to the tours are The Headhunters challenging for the tag titles on September 14th and Miwa Sato getting a WWF Women's Title shot on September 16th.

- The biggest show of the tour will be on September 26th from Korakuen Hall which will feature the finals of the Gran Slam tournament and will crown the new FMW World Brass Knuckles Champion. This show will be aired on tape delay on Television late Thursday night. From there one big FMW show will be aired monthly.

- A lot the tour will be taped for a commercial tape dubbed "The Grand Slam" to be released later. FMW will start to film more of it's show for future releases.

- In weird news, Arai is allowing a lot of his foreign talent to work a small indie promotion in America called "Revolution Pro Wrestling" run by Ian Rotten. The deal seems to be that as talent meet up to fly to Japan from Los Angeles, they will work the Revolution Pro show. In exchange some of that talent roster will be joining FMW on tours. The Headhunters being the first Revolution Pro talent to appear in FMW.

This was a mat heavy based match to showcase that FMW can incorporate that style as well. Ikeda had some vicious strikes to help utilize his shoot style, but Nakagawa countered by working over the leg which lead to the Sharpshooter victory by Nakagawa

Result: Nakagawa @ 8:04 via Sharpshooter

2. La Parka & Hanzo Nakajima vs Damian 666 & Yuji Yasuraoka

This was a fun flying match to get the crowd going. La Parka came out dancing with a chair and did the La Parka shuffle in the ring, he hit some impressive spots throughout the contest. Damian 666 was more the base for La Parka and Nakajima, but also did an Atsushi Onita impersonation to the delight of the crowd. Nakajima and Yasuraoka did a variety of dives and flips. In the end Parka pinned Yasuraoka with a flying senton. Parka danced in the end and then laid out Damian 666 with a chair, busting him open.

Result: La Parka over Yasuraoka @ 9:32 via Flying Senton

3. FMW Grand Slam Brass Knuckles Championship Round Robin Tournament:

Result: Boss Man @ 12:51 via Boss Man Slam

4. Megumi Kudo, Combat Toyoda, & Chigua Nagayo vs Takako Inoue, Maymi Ozaki, & Shark Tsuchiya

6. FMW Grand Slam Brass Knuckles Championship Round Robin Tournament:

Terry Funk [0]vs Jinsei Shinzaki [0]

Super Leather stayed at ring side and stayed in Terry Funk's corner for this contest. Funk made Shinzaki look really great. Shinzaki hit the flying space tiger drop and some moves while walking the ropes. Funk was wobbling all over the place for him. In the end, however, Terry Funk hit a moonsault onto a chair for the win. He then taunted Sabu by doing the Sabu pose.

Result: Funk @ 14:36 via moonsault

7. FMW Brass Knuckles Tag Team Titles Match:

Ricky Fuji & Hisakatsu Oya [c] vs The Headhunters

The Champions got destroyed most of the contest with huge moves by the monster team, inlcuding: power bombs, moonsaults, and choke slams. Hunters also used a barbed-wire baseball bat to bust Oya open. After a long face in peril segment, Oya made the hot tag to Fuji who went nuts hitting dropkicks and flying forearms. However Hunters were too strong and laid out Fuji as well. Finally Headhunter B & A both went to the top rope for a double flying headbutt, but Fuji grabbed the barbed wire bat and moved and nailed A with it on his way down and picked up the surprise win with a roll up.

Result: Fuji over A @ 11:15 via roll up

8. FMW Grand Slam Brass Knuckles Championship Round Robin Tournament:

Hayabusa [0]vs The Gladiator [0]

The main event of the evening was a huge brawling table busting epic between these two favourites of the tournament. There was a lot of nearfalls after some huge moves and this could had gone either way. Finally a Super Awesome Bomb from the top through a table was attempted, but Hayabusa countered it with a Super Frankensteiner through that same table for the win.

Result: Hayabusa @ 18:04 via Super Freankensteiner

FMW Grand Slam, Night 2

September 16, 1995

in Nankoku, Kochi, Japan

City Gym

Crusher Maedomori & Shark Tsuchiya vs Megumi Kudo & Combat Toyoda

Kudo and Toyoda have some miscommunication which leads to Shark pinning Kudo. Afterwards Kudo and Combat shook hands and Shark demanded a title match for later in the tour against Kudo.

Bring Your Own Weapons Battle Royal:

featuring: The Headhunters, Hisakatsu Oya, Ricky Fuji, Daisuke Ikeda, La Parka, Super Leather, Mitsuharu Matsunaga, Katsutoshi Niiyama, W*ING Kanemaru, Horace Boulder, Damian 666, Hanzo Nakajima, Yuji Yasuraoaka, & Koji Nakagawa

This was madness. The flyers flew. La Parka danced and used the chair he brought well. There was a lot of weapons being thrown around. The Headhunters and Fuji/Oya eliminated each other and brawled all over the arena to the back, which left the final four of: La Parka, Super Leather, W*ING Kanemura, and Mitsuharu Matsunaga. Parka was the first to go as he missed a dive and Super Leather ducked. The remaining three got really bloody and Super Leather was the last man standing.

Chigusa Nagayo vs Maymi Ozaki

A traditional AJW style match which could had went either way. Nagayo did get the victory and she challenged whoever the WWF Women's Champion is to a match for the title on the final day of the tour.

FMW Grand Slam Brass Knuckles Championship Round Robin Tournament:

The Gladiator [0] vs Mr. Gannosuke [0]

The Gladiator pulled out the win with an Awesome Bomb through a table.

Ripper used her mass to over power Sato and get the win and retain her title. Afterwards she accepted Nagayo's challenge.

FMW Grand Slam Brass Knuckles Championship Round Robin Tournament:

This was your classic underdog vs monster match. In this case the underdog, Hayabusa got the win with a Firebird Splash.

FMW Grand Slam Brass Knuckles Championship Round Robin Tournament:

Sabu [0] vs Terry Funk [2]

Terry Funk came to the ring with Super Leather again. These two had their normal match like they did all over the American Indies. Although this one was more vicious. FMW Grand Slam, Night 3

September 17, 1995

in Kasihara, Nara, Japan

Kasihara Gym

Hisakatsu Oya, Ricky Fuji, & La Parka vs The Headhunters & Damian 666

The Headhunters continue to look dominate as they lay waste to Fuji and Oya. Damian 666 impersonated The Head Hunters and even did their moves. La Parka was a side show here dancing and hitting some high spots, but wasn't too involved. Super Power Bomb by the Headhunters on Oya gave them the victory.

Super Leather vs Koji Nakagawa

Leather brawled and Nakagawa tried to use technique. In the end Super Leather rammed Nakagawa into his chainsaw which was at ringside, which lead directly to the victory.

FMW Grand Slam Brass Knuckles Championship Round Robin Tournament:

Sabu [0] vs. Jinsei Shinzaki [0]

This is exactly what you would expect from these two. Crazy high spot contest. Sabu hit a moonsault through a table for his first win of the tournament.

Daisuke Ikdea vs Mitsuharu Matsunaga

Shoot Style vs Death Style! Matsunaga has some tricks up his sleeve with his karate background though, so early on this resembled a UWFi match. Death Style of course came out on top here.

FMW Grand Slam Brass Knuckles Championship Round Robin Tournament:

Masato Tanaka [0] vs. Mr. Gannosuke [0]

This was more of a King's Road style contest, but with chairs. Gannosuke got a few very close nearfalls, but Tanaka hit a Tornado DDT followed by a Roaring Elbow for the win.

Elimination Match:

Monster Ripper, Crusher Maedomori, Shark Tsuchiya, & Mayumi Ozaki vs Megumi Kudo, Combat Toyoda, Chigusa Nagayo, & Miwa Sato

*Ripper pinned Sato with a sit out power bomb

*Combat pinned Crusher with a Thunder Fire Bomb

*Chigusa and Ripper battled to a double count out as they brawled to the back

*Toyoda pinned Shark with a discuss lariat

*Ozaki pinned Kudo after Kudo and Combat collided

*Combat pinned Ozaki with a Fire Thunder Bomb

Sole Survivor: Combat Toyoda

FMW Grand Slam Brass Knuckles Championship Round Robin Tournament:

Terry Funk [4] vs. Hayabusa [4]

Super Leather joined Terry Funk at ringside. Funk really destroyed Hayabusa's leg through out the contest and kept coming back to the spinning toe hold. Hayabusa kept fighting back. At one point Super Leather and Funk started to double team, after Hayabusa looked to have everything in hand. That is when the Big Boss Man ran to ringside and chased Super Leather to the back. That left Hayabusa alone to hit the Firebird Special, however Funk moved out of the way. Funk put on the Spinning Toe Hold, only for it to be countered with an inside cradle for the win. Post match Funk destroyed Hayabusa and left him bloody.

Current Grand Slam Round Robin Standings:

Hayabusa limped into this match and Gannosuke went right to work on the leg. The match was focused on Gannosuke's leg work and Hayabusa attempting comebacks. FMW Grand Slam Brass Knuckles Championship Round Robin Tournament:

Terry Funk [4] vs. The Gladiator [4]

Super Leather was not in Funk's corner for this one, after the last contest. Funk and Gladiator had a heel versus heel contest where both men played it legit. Tables, chairs, and a barbed wire baseball bat were all used. An Awesome Splash gave Gladiator the win here, but barely.

FMW Grand Slam Brass Knuckles Championship Round Robin Tournament:

This was a violent battle royal that saw lots of weapons used. Early on Kudo and Combat pumped into each other and looked to go at, but instead shook hands. As they did that, Shark came from behind and tossed both. Chigusa and Ripper eliminated each other to bring the match down to Ozaki and Inoue. The two battled and hit each other with chairs, but in the end Ozaki ducked Inoue's charge and picked up the win.

Koji Nakagawa, La Parka, & Hanzo Nakajima vs. Damian 666, Yuji Yasaroaka, & W*ING Kanemaru

This was built like a lucha libre trios match. La Parka pinned Yasaroaka to gain the victory for his team. Afterwards Kanemaru went to confront him, but Parka laid him out with a chair and danced over his prone body.

Ricky Fuji vs. Headhunter A

A wild brawl that was tossed out when the other Headhunter and Hisakatsu Oya interfered.

FMW Grand Slam Brass Knuckles Championship Round Robin Tournament:

Terry Funk [4] vs. Mr. Gannosuke [0]

Mr. Gannosuke had an aggressive edge here, but Terry Funk is a wile veteran. Both men came close to victory, but Funk hit a moonsault for the win. After the match Funk called out Hayabusa who defeated him earlier in the tournament. Hayabusa tried to limp out to confront Funk, but Super Leather attacked him from behind. Big Boss Man ran out to save Hayabusa and run off Leather. Mr. Gannosuke ignored the whole situation and did not save anyone, just looked disgusted as he stormed to the back. Funk stayed in the ring taunted everyone.
