World Cast What If...?: WWE Hidden Gems 2

https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-what-if-wwe-hidden-gems-2

The latest Hidden Gems drop on the Network got the boys excited (well, more Pete and Kelly than Johnny) so they decided to take another brief break from WCCW to talk about it. This drop is all about famous "shooters" in wrestling, looking at...

-Karl Gotch/Rene Goulet vs The Rugged Russians 1/22/72 Boston Garden

-Danny Hodge/Jos LeDuc vs Pak Song/Toru Tanaka 11/12/74 Florida

-Billy Robinson vs Rick Martel 5/19/83 Winnipeg Arena

-Nobuhiko Takada vs Athol Foley 8/12/83 Stampede

-Lou Thesz vs Wild Bill Longson 6/17/52 Sportatorium, Dallas

A great time was had by all, and if you love random history talk about all kinds of wrestling legends and territories, this is basically the only podcast you will need to listen to for the rest of 2018 (excluding more World Cast of course...and eventually the Mount Olympus 1966 special...and all the great shows on ProWrestlingOnly.com...but other than that, nothing else)

Episode 48

March 5, 1983 (WCCW 62)

SURELY getting destroyed by the Great Yatsu is finally, totally, without doubt the end for Good Ol' Al. Must be a bitch to pack up all that Elvis memorabilia. Also on the show...

-Oh no, a NEW Kabuki music video

-"The Kamala" is coming

-Iceman Parsons continues to impress, as do Gorgeous Jimmy and Sunshine

-And David vs "The Third Bird" Buddy Roberts in the main event!

March 12, 1983 (WCCW 63)

Another super fun WCCW show to review, with only a couple bumps...

-Bill Irwin vs Johnny Mantell: Lost classic according to Pete, dullsville according to Kelly

-The Great Yatsu vs Mike ('don't call me Vaughn") Bond: Not squashy enough

Then the good stuff...

-"Cold Facts About the Iceman"

-Kerry vs Hayes: Great, despite that $*#%! David Manning

-David/Kevin vs Roberts/Gordy: Wild tag encounter that brings out the Rattlesnake in Kevin

-Everyone's favorite #7 babyface, Mike Bond!

-And a big time main event for the Texas title between David Von Erich and Not Jimmy Jam Garvin

Episode 51

March 26, 1983 (WCCW 65)

Epic show for the boys to discuss this week, one of the best yet, featuring...

-Jose Lothario (full retrospective episode on his career next week, fans!) vs Gorgeous Jimmy in a really good match

-Bill Mercer going all hard-hitting journalist at the headquarters of Devastation Inc.

-A wild, and rarely discussed, showdown between Kevin/Kerry vs Hayes/Gordy

Von Erich's vs Freebirds keeps getting hotter and hotter and this territory is officially on FIRE!

World Cast: Don't accept inferior substitutes!

April 2, 1983 (WCCW 66)

This episode of WCCW has a little bit of everything, folks...

-Midgets!

-A near 50 year old man working a tired-as-hell Nazi gimmick

-Botched interviews

-The Penis Claw

-Special Correspondent, Monica Hunter!

-Blatant racism

-And The Iceman, as always, being awesome

Sit back and and enjoy the boys as they analyze this crazy-ass show!

Episode 53

https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-53-the-mysterious-state-fair-coliseum-show-part-1

April 9, 1983 (WCCW 67)

For the next two weeks the boys explore a show on April 1, 1983 that was randomly taped from the State Fair Coliseum in Dallas. Why was it taped there? Why are all the matches so short? It's one of the great mysteries of modern times, but it does provide a bunch of highlights, such as...

-The most total and complete humiliation of a jobber ever witnessed by man
-The Iceman vs Michael Hayes in a less than satisfying encounter
-The end of the road for the Great Kabuki
-And a freakin' AWESOME main event between Ric Flair and Kevin for the NWA title

April 16, 1983 (WCCW 68)

The boys resume their look at the ever-so mysterious State Fair Coliseum show, this time featuring...

-The debut of THE MONGOL...who is not actually Mongolian in case you were wondering

-A (we hate to say it) not very good Jose Lothario match

-"In the Bush with the Ugandan Giant"!!!

-David vs Gordy in a Handcuff Match

-And a crowd full of drunk cowboys, some of whom decide it's a good idea to hit the ring

Let's just back to the friggen Sportatorium ASAP

April 23, 1983 (WCCW 69...*giggle*)

The last World Cast of 2018 looks at two more massive debuts and one more departure...

-Chris Adams arrives from Portland with his hair freshly shaved, and he needs to improve his promo skills post haste

-Kamala finally makes it to Dallas and the crowd is in awe (and his opponent is WHO???)

-The long and winding road for King Kong Bundy comes to an end

-All this plus Kevin vs Gordy in a hot main event!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!!!

Episode 56

April 30 & May 7, 1983 (WCCW 70 & 71)

https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-56?in=prowrestlingonly/sets/world-cast

The boys ring in the new year with a double-sized double episode! Truth be told, this was unplanned, but Pete had a bit too much New Year's Eve fun (*wink, wink*), so Kelly and Johnny go alone and decide to bash out TWO reviews of WCCW for you lucky listeners.

Highlights include...

-More Mongol being crappy
-Chavo vs Gorgeous Jimmy in a hot little match
-More Kamala being awesome
-Mike Fucking Reed
-More Akbar being weird
-Two super hot main events further continuing the Von Erichs vs Freebirs war, but with the Iceman now involved!

And fans, for the next two weeks look out for WORLD CAST OF THE CHAMPIONS!!!!

World Cast of the Champions: Pro Wrestling USA, December 29, 1985

https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-of-the-champions-pwusa-12291985

The WWE Network went plum crazy this past Xmas with a flurry of new additions to the Hidden Gems section. Always on the cutting edge, the boys have decided to forgo WCCW for a couple weeks to look at a couple of the most interesting drops. Today, their gaze turns to the Meadowlands on a cold December night in 1985 for an AWA/NWA supercard attended by our very own Johnny Sorrow as a snarky young lad.

This is an epic show covering a myriad of topics, including:

-The midget equivalent of Brisco vs Funk Jr, or something

-You've got a way to go, ladies, but at least you're working stiff

-Carlos Colon is so hated by the surly Northeast crowd he turns Paul Jones babyface

-The phenomenon of the Road Warriors

-SGT. SLAUGHTER BLEEDING BUCKETS!!! (who cares if his opponents stink)

-Magnum vs Tully motherfuckers!!!

-In case there was any doubt, the Dusty Finish sucks balls

-And Ricky Martel vs Stan Hansen in a main event totally rejected by the audience, but with an ending guaranteed never to be forgotten

NEXT WEEK: MID SOUTH NEW YEAR'S EVE 1985!!!!!

World Cast of the Champions II: Mid South, 12/31/1985

https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-of-the-champions-ii-mid-south-12311985

World Cast of the Champions is back for the second straight week and this time the boys look at a Mid South show from New Year's Eve 1985!

On the docket:

-The Bruise Brothers (Porkchop Cash and "Mad Dog" Boyd) vs. Eddie Gilbert and the Nightmare
-Terry Taylor vs. Rob Rechsteiner
-Jake Roberts vs. Sir Oliver Humperdink
-"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan vs. Dick Slater
-"Hacksaw" Butch Reed vs. "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer
-Plus, the main event, not found on the WWE Network, Ted Dibiase vs. Dick Murdoch!

Two "Hacksaws" and two "Mad Dogs", plus a bunch of blood and some really good matches = a kick ass card.  This show was a blast to do, so everyone enjoy!!!

Episode 57

The boys return to the Sportatorium for a fun show from the WCCW crew, featuring...

-A thorough discussion about Jimmy Garvin as a performer in the 1980s
-Chris Adams goes for tea with Bill Mercer, wrestles, and makes the save in two matches!
-What the heck is Butcher Vachon doing here?
-Kamala is God damn CANNIBAL and he thinks Jose Lothario is tasty
-And a major angle between the Iceman and the Freebirds!

Episode 58

https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-58

May 21, 1983 (WCCW 73)

A red hot main event between Kevin Von Erich and Terry Gordy for the American title highlights an otherwise humdrum episode of WCCW. But as experienced podcasters, the boys know how to make this shit sound awesome...

-Yatsu shows no respect to Montreal LEGEND Butcher Vachon

-The never-ending, globe spanning WAR between Chris Adams and the Mongol continues, and nobody cares

-Pete's favorite wrestler Johnny Mantell returns, but he's no Good Ol' Al

-And best of all, no Bill Mercer this week!

May 28, 1983 (WCCW 74)

The boys are back in Big-D, and they welcome Bill Mercer's shiny new mustache to the show! Will this finally be the right look for Bill? Could be. In addition, the boys want to talk a little wrestling, including...
