With that sit down tonight and the fact they didn't mention him in mitb match I think Lashley is challenging Brock at the show

Dave said Brock isnt booked for the show. And nor should he be really. The MITB matches carry the show by itself.

Unless they make Roman turn into the delusional heel with this material, he's fucked. His promos are good and he sounds convincing, but considering the overall booking, that does not matter at all.

I feel like this almost HAS to be what they are doing.

Also, can we talk about how fucking weird that Lashley interview was? I don’t know where they are going with it but I am here for some weird athletic monster talking about his sisters all the time.

In news sure to thrill most of you, Sucka T will apparently replace Coach on commentary for next week's Raw in London. Coach, he's coming for you...

I assume this is another one-week engagement because of Coach's prior golf commitments.

Do golf games have commentary? Would Coach be perfectly suited to that sport?

BTW, here are the Lashley vids mentioned elsewhere in this thread:

I haven't watched them yet, but this doesn't sound like the worst way in the world to make people care about Lashley. He was DOA the minute he made his underwhelming return. Mike Kanellis had a better debut, and that sucked. Maybe Lashley is showcasing "the power of LOVE" with his older sisters?

I think they are going for something different with it. It was bizarre.

Bobby Lashley's sisters should be the top heel stable in the WWE.

They blew it with Lashley on that first show by making him just another guy in a six man tag.

Is this the first time the Rotundo brothers have competed against each other?

They wrestled one on one in NXT way back when, and in an 8 man tag on Raw once.

Too early to say that they blew it, though. I actually liked that interview because it was just so bizarre. It's far from the ideal, but it's most than people got and I actually find Lashley's soft spoken persona to be interesting. I don't think it really makes for a pro wrestling character, but he sounds like a nice guy and sometimes that's all you need.

Also, gotta love that if not for his demeanor, Jinder is this close to being the face in the feud against Roman. Pointing out (rightfully so) that Roman is getting chance after chance after chance and being dismissed by Kurt really makes him stand out as the rational one in the situation.

Something I find rather positive about the whole Reigns situation is that, unlike Cena, turning him heel wouldn't be catastrophical for business. Big Match John was the #1 guy in pretty much every possible metric by a long shot during his ace period, and a turn would kill much of the money they made. With Reigns it's a little bit different because although he is the top merch seller, I believe they have more of a "safety net" now, with acts like Rollins, New Day, Strowman and Bayley, for instance. It is way more possible that they pull this turn now than it ever was with Cena.

God I hate Money in the Bank. I know it has been said 100 times, but as a gimmick they bust out once in a long while when it fits with what is happening around the main event... I am fine with it.  As an annual event... blah.

Anyway, I just started the hulu version of raw and I thought KO vs Strowman was really good. I was expecting a squash there and they really delivered a solid little opening match match that got the show (and the qualifiers) kicked of nicely.

This is the credited response.  There's just no reason to slot him in as a regular part of the crew on night 1 if there's any ambition of having him break out of the pack.

Are there going to be 4 Money In The Bank matches at the PPV? One each for the main mens and womens titles?

No, right now, there are 2 announced; men and women, both interbranded.

With that weird Ascension promo, I feel like it's definitely possible they are doing a tag team one too.

But yeah, the mens and womens both seem to be interbrand.

What are your thoughts on Ruby Riot, everyone? To me she was the glue to that very good triple threat, and she is probably the best wrestler in the Women's Division right now (Asuka is lost in the shuffle at the moment).

The way Cole and Graves describe her character on commentary, it would make it so easy to portray her as a face... she can be a megastar, to me.

I've only seen her here and on the backlash preshow but I'm already a fan. Her look is unique for the WWE and she does some interesting stuff in ring. The commentators seem to be puting her over huge too. The three way was good but the crowd couldn't give a shit. They've generally been doing a good job with the women's division but the workers are not over at all which is a shame.

I like Cory Graves but I wish he'd stop with the post-JBL shades of grey shit. The show would be so much stronger with an actual heel commentator.

Ruby is on a roll lately. Seems like she is finding her groove on the main roster now. I was very skeptical of her as a heel when she glt called up but she seems to be getting it together. Logan/Morgan are still really bad and pointless, though. Since she had been a babyface for so long, I’d rather she stay heel for a while yet.

Liv isn't great, but I think she has the character stuff down pretty well and does a good job with those flopping heel bumps. Sarah hasn't really stood out though.

Are we creating ourselves a false narrative when it comes to Lashley. It feels like everyone has just decided that hed come in as a huge star with a monster push and be slotted into a big match with Brock. But nothing WWE have done has suggeated they view him at that level or prepping him for that sort of a rise. Im sure hell get there because everyone gets their turn at the top for a short run at some point bit I dont think theu brought him back to be one of the very top guys on either brand. So it almost feels unfair to be judging what theyre doing with him on a different curve to what theyre actually going for. Time will tell and maybe they are in which case its been really poor but atm I dont think so.

Which brings me to the second part. He hasnt shown anything since he came back to suggest he should be anywhere near that level of a push. I didnt see any of his TNA run but so far hes looked just like the same Lashley from a decade ago. Super bland with some nice athleticism spots. Hes everything Braun is but ten times worse at it. Its one thing not being booked to look like a star but hes had plenty of ring time to show something and hes shown absolutely nothing to suggest hed do any better now with the level of push he got in 06/07 than he did then.

Maybe he needs the heel turn and people are projecting his improved ability as a heel onto him as a babyface. But based on nothing other than what hes done in isolated matches theres nothing to suggest him vs Brock would be a match that would get over like the Joe and Braun matches did last year.
