I like the Austin Idol vs Sheiky Baby match-up, as I have always thought of Idol as kind of a shorter-sized Hulk Hogan type.

I like Duggan vs Mulligan as kind of a Doc Williams vs Lariat Hansen type of all-American big hoss battle.

You've done a great job building up "Professor" Brad. I didn't even blink seeing him vs #1derful in the Main, whereas a few weeks ago that might have seemed nuts to me.

I'm really having a lot of fun with Rheingans because it's such a contrast from real life. Rheingans has the perfect background for this type of character I had in mind.

MACW heading to the Central States was nice here as the NWA must help all those wrestling starved fans in the U.S.

I am starting to hear the fans chanting Tui...Tui.... Tui

I wonder if all these wins will lead to a shot at s title somewhere down the road for KKB or is someone going to collect the $10,000? Either way, it is a great angle.

Does Rip Oliver have a heart? I know he had some babyface time in Portland... maybe he is a Bi-Coastal Good Guy

Some important for Sheik to lose so many of these road shows to let everyone feel Patriotic and go home happy.

I loved the Dr. Tom match with SBS. Sugar is another one of those great wrestlers who has gotten the shaft in this game because of the depth of our rosters.

Duggan and Milligan is one of those brawls that people will talk about forever.

Nive win for Orndorff but we must give it to Olympian Brad R. as he has gone from the scrap heap to a title match in a short time

Great show

I love Dillon selling any danger to Bundy that could cost him his ten grand. I wonder why Oliver wasn't listening to Jones. Prichard has been such a great TV champ, barely hanging on to the belt with the help of Riddle. Sheiky Baby giving up to the Vegas leg lock is big. The idea of Duggan vs. Mulligan as a one-off match between two tough brawlers is awesome. I want a feud! Orndorff vs. Mr. Professor would have been a really good technical bout with quite a bit of heat the way you are building up Brad.

Interested to see what's up with Oliver and Paul Jones....

Great win for Duggan that will really help establish him in Mid Atlantic, BJM is a legend here!

I can't put it over enough how quickly and how well you've built Rheigans heel character, something like this IRL might have been what would have finally gotten him over.

MACW @ WTBS Studios TV Aired 6-7-86

Schiavone: Hello everybody and welcome to another edition of Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling. With me as always my partner David Crockett. David, we have a great show tonight as we will see highlights from the tag team battle royal that took place this past week in Roanoke VA. As you know the winning team will go on to face the US Champs, Rocky Johnson and Wendell Cooley on July 2nd at the Great American Bash.

Crockett: That's right Tony. Lot's of action in the ring tonight. We heard the challenge last week, Tom Prichard is going to put up the TV title in an open challenge tonight. I think his manager Rock Riddle is becoming a tad to arrogant.

Schiavone: You might be right David. Big tag team match tonight as Rolling Thunder takes on Greatness. Also in action will be Harley Race, Blackjack Mulligan, The Cobra along with the Assassin. Hot Property, The Caspian Empire and fans we will have the wrestling debut of Rick Rude and Manny Fernandez, known as the Awesome Twosome.

Crockett: A lot of anticipation for the Awesome Twosome debut and as we all found out, they are under contract to the US Champion himself, The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase. Speaking of that, this weekend in Greensboro Dibiase, Rude and Fernandez will clash with Hacksaw Duggan and the Road Warriors. Let's hear what Ted Dibiase had to say, earlier this week from his home.

Dibiase standing in front of a mansion

Dibiase: (The laugh) I want all of you peons out there to take a good look at the mansion behind me. You see, when you have an extraordinary talent like myself, people pay me lots of money to use that talent. My talent is wrestling and because of my wrestling talent, I can afford a home like this. Most of you peons out there probably live in a shack or trailer and have no idea what I'm talking about, which is why I just cant relate to you minimum wage working Mid Atlantic grunts. Now Hacksaw Duggan is somebody I'm sure that can relate to you people. At the Great American Bash, I'm going to prove why I'm paid a lot more than he is when I put him down for good inside the steel cage. First things first, this Saturday Night in Greensboro we have a 6 man tag match. Duggan might of gone out and got the NWA World Champs, the Road Warriors, but Duggan you fool, I have the best team money can buy. Rick Rude and Manny Fernandez will prove that in Greensboro when they send the Road Warriors running with their tails between their legs. When that's over and done with, I go onto the Bash and get rid of you once and for all Duggan! (The laugh)

Back in the Studio

Back Live

Crockett: Oh my, there you have it fans. Los Infernales wins the battle royal and have earned themselves a shot at the US tag team titles on July 2nd at the Great American Bash. They certainly earned that shot. Fans lets go to the ring.

Blackjack Mulligan vs. Lou Simms

Mulligan pummels Simms to the ground then stomps away. Mulligan body slams him, picks him up swings him to the ropes and hits him with a flying back elbow smash, Mulligan stomps on Simms head several times then holds up his black gloved hand and clamps on the claw! Mulligan puts on the pressure and the Ref rings the bell. The Ref raises Mulligan's arm but Mulligan pushes him away and raises his black gloved fist to the booing fans.

Commercial Break

Hot Property vs. Roger Murphy and Larry O'Meara

Hot Property work over their opponents with hip tosses, arm drags and quick tags. Travis swings Murphy to the ropes and hits a sidewalk slam then tags in Savoldi. Savoldi hits a flying knee drop from the 2nd turnbuckle and tags in Travis. They swing Murphy to the ropes and hit a double Hot Shot for the pin! The fans cheer as Hot Property raises their fists to the cheering crowd.

Hot Property cut a promo and say they came up short in the battle royal but that's not going to stop them from staying in the title hunt, They also send a strong message to the Assassins, telling them they wont stand in their way towards the titles.

Commercial Break

Harley Race vs. Todd Rooney

Harley lifts Rooney up and executes a delayed vertical suplex then follows with a delayed diving headbutt. Harley hits a swinging neckbreaker then hoists Rooney up and drops him with the piledriver for the pin! Harley walks through the ropes and heads to the podium.

Schiavone: Well Harley, on July 2nd at the Great American Bash, it's you and Paul Orndorff in a no disqualification match for the Mid Atlantic Title.

Race: Orndorff! You're walking around with my title and when I get my hands on you July 2nd, you're going to find out why that title belongs to me. No disqualification! Anything goes! I'm going to make you suffer and then I'm just going to beat you up! When it's all said and done, that title will be back where it belongs, around my waist!

Schiavone: Ominous words from Harley Race, fans back to the ring.

Caspian Empire w/ Don Kernodle vs. Bill Richards and Clyde Putnam

The Empire is drawing serious heat tonight as they taunt the fans and wave their flags. Kernodle yells at the fans from the outside. Sheik body slams Putnam and tags Smirnoff, who fly's off the top rope with a knee drop. Smirnoff hits a backbreaker then tags in Sheik. Sheik stomps on the back of Putnam then applies the Camel Clutch. The Ref signals for the bell. Richards checks on his partner but gets stomped down by the Empire and Kernodle, then they hurl him through the ropes. Caspian Empire look tuned up for their big 6 man tag match at the Bash. They head to the podium.

Kernodle: I hope those stupid Rougeaus and that idiot Kirchner saw that. Now do you see why I picked these men to team with. What you're looking at is an unstoppable alliance, a wrecking machine. We cant wait until July 2nd to beat those three men senseless. They will be begging for mercy! Scratch that, they will be begging for their lives!

Commercial Break

'The Universal Heartthrob' Austin Idol vs. Dave Penson

Idol swings Penson to the ropes and puts him down with a back elbow smash. Idol picks up Penson and hits a shin breaker then clamps on the Las Vegas Leg Lock. The fans cheer as the Ref signals for the bell. Idol is looking at the fans and gives them a right bicep pose when he's nailed from behind by Rob Fuller! Fuller reaches in his pocket and puts on a pair of brass knuckles. He shoves the Ref out of the way. Idol staggers up and Fuller clocks him with the brass knuckles, busting him open. Officials run into the ring and attend to Idol. Fuller smiles, straightens his cowboy hat and walks out.

Crockett: What a cowardly act by Rob Fuller, it's obvious he's trying to soften up Idol before they meet in Greensboro for a chance at the NWA World Title. I'll tell you one thing, Idol will show up in Greensboro. Speaking of Greensboro, Jimmy Snuka was set to defend the National Title against Bruiser Brody but due to booking conflicts, Brody will not be able to make it. However, we received word that Skandor Akbar heard about this and went to the NWA board of directors. Jimmy Snuka agreed to the defense. In Greensboro, Jimmy Snuka will defend the National Title against one of the most dangerous men in wrestling...Haku! Fans, that should be one heck of a fight. With me right now is the National Champ, Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka. Jimmy, your thoughts.

Snuka: David Crockett, I told you brotha that I would be a fighting champion and defend against anybody. Akbar wants his beast Haku to get a shot, Akbar, you got it! The Superfly is ready for the fight and Haku better be ready because you're going to have to come at me with everything you got and that still wont be enough to take this title from me brotha!

Commercial Break

Commercial Break

Schiavone: Fans joining me now is Paul Jones along with Rip Oliver. Paul, your man here will face Jimmy Valiant on July 2nd at the Great American Bash. Now rumors are circulating that there's some tension going on in your army. What's going on there?

Jones: That's just like you to stir things up Schiavone. You have nothing better to do than meddle in other people's business. You're just pathetic. There is no problems whatsoever in my Army. And on July 2nd my man Rip Oliver is going to put Jimmy Valiant on the shelve once and for all. I hate Jimmy Valiant more than anything I've ever hated in my life. Rip Oliver is going to rid that thorn in my side once and for all. I cant wait to see him suffer! I cant wait to watch his stupid dancing come to a stop! I cant wait until he's out of wrestling for good. I cant wait until July 2nd!

Jones leaves, Oliver pauses and shakes his head then follows.

Schiavone: Well, ok there you have it. Fans, lets go to the ring for the anticipated debut of Rick Rude and Manny Fernandez, the Awesome Twosome.

Manny: The Awesome Twosome have arrived Daddy and we're serving notice to every team in the NWA. Ted Dibiase promised us the opportunity that we deserve and Daddy, I guarantee you, we're going to capitalize on that. When I say we're serving notice, well we're starting at the top. Road Warriors, you're going to get a taste of what the Awesome Twosome are all about in Greensboro, tell them Rick.

Rude: All I hear is how the Road Warriors are the most dominant team in wrestling. Well guess what Road Warriors, you haven't wrestled the Awesome Twosome. In Greensboro you and that goof Duggan are going to find out just how bad and dominant we are. Like my partner said, Ted gave us the ball and you can bet we're going to run with it and run over any team in the NWA that stands in our way. You're first up Road Warriors, see you in Greensboro!

Duggan: Dibiase! You keep running your mouth and flaunting your money, well that's all fine and dandy, but don't you go around and bad mouth these great hard working fans. You say I'm just like them, well for once I agree with you and I'm damn proud to be a blue collar American, tough guy! At the Great American Bash, all the money in the world wont be able to save you from the beating you're going to get in that cage. All the money in the world isn't going to save you and your hired goons from the beating you're going to get in Greensboro at the hands of me and the Road Warriors. We're going to prove that money wont help you when you and your goons are getting the beating of a lifetime!

Back in the Studio

Crockett: Fans before we get to our open challenge TV Title main event, I'm afraid Rock Riddle has something to say. Come on out Rock.

Riddle walks out smiling bright. Prichard is behind him, smiling with the TV title on his shoulder.

Riddle: AWWWWW Davey Baby, loosen up, it's a fine day in the studio today, want to know why? Quiet and I'll tell you why. Everybody out here and watching at home gets to witness a true fighting champion in action. Tom Prichard is the greatest TV champion of all time and has the skill and guts to back it up. What other champion would put up his title in an open challenge match? Davey Baby, your silence proves my point.

Prichard: (Laughs) Tell him Rock. You people are looking at a true A Lister baby. This here title says so and tonight I will back it up as I defend against some B level competition. If you're not in the Agency then your B level. Alright Rock, let's give the people a show.

Riddle and Prichard are in the ring laughing and waiting for their opponent. The crowd jumps out of their seats and roar as Tommy Wildfire Rich comes out!!!!

I got a kick out of you starting the show with Crockett saying that Riddle is getting too arrogant, then end the show with Riddle calling him "Davey Baby!"

I'm happy with Los Infernales getting the title shot.

As always, you do a great job using squash matches to build up.your wrestlers and angles heading into the next big card.

Snuka vs Haku should be hawt!

Rude & Fernandez vs the Road Warriors! Yes please.

And you cap it all off withnRich handing Riddle his comeuppance.

HOW....WHA....THA....I MEAN....

No, seriously, great main event and I really didn't see Tommy Rich answering The Agency's open challenge coming. Rich will be a fantastic TV champion.

And I'm legit more pumped up for Snuka vs Haku than Snuka vs Brody. This is gonna be BRUTALLY AWESOME.

Great way for Wildfire to return to Mid Atlantic winning the TV title and endearing himself to the fans by sticking it to the Agency!

Right out of the gate Rude/Fernandez feel like a legit threat to the Road Warriors titles, I love that they are alligned with Dibiase which should be mutually beneficial.

DiBiase's promo was perfect. Love seeing los Infernales succeed in the NWA. Kernodle putting over his allies is a nice bit of heel camraderie. Fuller really busted Idol up and I can see a feud coming out of that. So you replaced Brody with Haku...what a GREAT substitution! Now my match of the night even over Ted vs. Duggan. Great debut for Rude and Fernandez. I wonder if they are biting off more than they can chew. I loved having Duggan come out to answer right before the end of the show. It puts over the importance of that match even while other stuff is going on. As far as the main, what a way to come into a territory! Rich is an instant hit and has a ready-made hot feud. All around great booking on thisone.

What a great heel move by Blackjack Mulligan, slapping the Claw on a downed man.

Nice story-telling with the cut on the forehead opening up again leading to a come from behind babyface performance from Idol.

Looks like we might be getting more out of Snuka vs Haku. I am in favour of that.

I think kevin is right on the money w/r/t the finish of the main event.

Loved the St. Clair/Singh stuff going on in Greensboro. Very heel heavy on the winning side for the first two thirds of the show. Idol going over despite the injury is the right call. Haku makes sure to leave an impression despite a DCO. Main would have torn the house down.

St. Clair & Singh clearly can't help but beat each other senseless as it was the theme of the night here! Great National title match as well with the double countout finish between Snuka and Haku/King Tonga! I bet that Skandor Akbar will ask for another match for Haku against the Superfly!

And of course, excellent main event with the 6-Men Tag. Let's see how Dibiase and his crew will bounce back from this.

Mark Youngblood is definitely on a roll ever since he's focused on singles competition. Like it or not, he's been able to clinch some serious wins lately. He could easily contend for Paul Orndorff and now Tommy Rich's titles.

Speaking of Orndorff & Rich, huge win for them in the main event. But I'm mostly glad to see Tom Prichard being featured in that main event. He's been such a gem in Mid-Atlantic. Probably the most underrated worker on your roster.

Robinson walking out on Sammartino is not a good sign for Greatness. Oliver and Jones are having their issues, or they want somebody to think they are. I keep thinking that "one more" ends up being Bundy's eventual downfall. I would add Hot Property to Mark Youngblood as really well-used young talents that seem to be going places. Crazy 6-man with Kernodle showing his devious side for the finish. Main would have had the house rocking and I can't help but agree on Prichard. He's been a consistent highlight since the Horsemen left.

Just hearing Wheeling, WV brings back memories of when I was a kid and Gordon Solie on the Superstation ran down all the upcoming events. Time to head to Saginaw next

Kernodle with the Caspian Empire would bring some serious heat. Nothing worse then a Vet turning on his country.

Great main event! Rich can always get the crowd going and Orndorff is the man in the MACW right now.

I also like the name "Professor" with the former Olympian.

The Valiant/Cobra match really stood out here...great way to further the angle with Oliver and Jones

Main everybody is doing a great job but AWA and Mid Atlantic really stand out as being great establishing and developing young talent like Hot Property, Prichard, etc.

Speaking of Prichard, a great rub for him teaming with Race and working with Orndorff and Rich in the main event...he's on track to be a breakout star in the NWA!

MACW @ WTBS Studios TV (Recorded 6-11-86) Aired 6-14-86

Schiavone: Hello everybody and welcome to another edition of Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling. With me as always is my partner David Crockett. David, a lot going on as we head towards the Great American Bash.

Crockett: You said it Tony. We will be hearing from the man who will face Nikita Koloff at the Bash for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, I'm talking about the Universal Heartthrob Austin Idol. Well, we know the rematch has been signed for the Bash as Tommy Rich will defend the Television title against Tom Prichard. Things just didn't work out well last week for Rock Riddle.

Schiavone: No they didn't and we will be hearing from Tommy Rich and we will be seeing Tom Prichard in action today. Also in action will be a returning Bob Backlund, Tiger Jeet Singh, Corporal Kirchner, Jimmy Valiant, the Southern Ramblers and a big 6 man tag match as Hot Property and Sweet Brown Sugar take on the Assassins and the Cobra.

Crockett: Superstar Billy Graham will be in the Mid Atlantic ring today. Also the Mid Atlantic Champ, Paul Orndorff will be wrestling as well as Hacksaw Jim Duggan! Should be a great night of action.

Schiavone: Indeed it should be. Fans, before we get to the action, I want to bring out my guests, the tag team of Greatness, Billy Robinson and David Sammartino. Gentleman, it seems like you haven't been on the same page of late as you've dropped two straight matches to Rolling Thunder. What's going on?

Sammartino: I really wish I knew Tony. I've been focused and training hard, so I know the problem isn't me.

The fans start taunting Sammartino and he yells at them and tells them to shut up.

Robinson: You see David, right there, you just showed everybody why we're not coming together as a unit. I took you on as a partner because I saw something in you and just thought you needed a bit of guidance. You just cant seem to stay focused and it's bringing this team down. I have no choice but to end this relationship.

Sammartino: Oh is that right? That's typical of you, put the blame on everybody but yourself. You know Billy, you weren't such a great mentor and you're not that great of a wrestler. I would love to teach you a wrestling lesson. How about you and me have a match, in that ring, tonight? I'll show you just how focused I can be.

Robinson: If that's what you want kid, fine by me.

Schiavone: Certainly wasn't expecting that. Ok, later on we'll see David Sammartino squaring off against Billy Robinson. Fans, let's go to the ring.

Bob Backlund vs. Vic DeMarco

Backlund returns from his arm injury (courtesy of Brad Rheingans) and appears to haven't lost a step as he works over DeMarco with some solid amateur wrestling. He swings DeMarco to the ropes and back drops him. He picks DeMarco up and executes the Running Atomic Drop for the pin!

Graham swings Hillman to the ropes and clamps on the Bear Hug. Hillman has enough and submits. Graham flexes for the cheering fans and heads to the podium.

Crockett: Great to have the Superstar back. I understand you're here for a specific reason.

Graham: David Crockett! The Superstar is back and feeling bad to the bone brother! I am here for a reason, actually I'm here for 10,000 reasons. That's right baby, I'm here for the 10,000 dollar challenge! This weekend in Norfolk, it's me and King Kong Bundy. JJ Dillon, I promise you brother, I'm taking that big man down and putting him through the ground!

The fans boo as JJ Dillon walks out with the briefcase.

JJ: With all due respect Mr. Graham, I would strongly advise you to reconsider this match and go back home. You were once an iconic figure in this industry but now you're just a broken down has been who should be in a retirement facility. This match is a joke and quite frankly Mr. Graham, you don't have a chance at winning this money. I seriously doubt you will even survive the match. So be a smart man, turn around and go home. (JJ arrogantly smiles) No shame in that.

Graham: (contemplates a moment) Maybe you're right. Maybe the Superstar isn't as strong as he used to be. Why don't we shake hands and part as friends.

JJ: You're a lot smarter than I thought. Ok, let's shake hands.

Graham and JJ shake hands. JJ is still arrogantly smiling but that smile suddenly turns into a look of pain as Graham puts the squeeze on JJ. The briefcase falls as he starts screaming in pain.

Graham: You feel that Dillon? Does it feel like I've lost my strength?

JJ: (screaming) Please! Let go! Please!

Graham pulls his hand away as JJ collapses in pain while holding his hand.

Crockett: (Smiling and looking down at JJ) Wow! There you have it, straight from the Superstar. Will he get the 10,000 dollars? We'll find out this weekend in Norfolk. Lets go back to the ring.

Crockett: JJ, you ok?

The fans cheer as Idol winks and gives them a right arm bicep pose.

Crockett: Austin, you get a shot at the World Title. How do you feel about going up against the most dangerous man in the NWA, Nikita Koloff?

Idol: No question about it, Nikita Koloff is a devastating force to be reckoned with. However, Austin Idol has been in there with the best wrestlers in the world. I've won many titles and won the Johnny Rougeau Memorial Cup last year. I've been to the big dances and came out on top. I don't care how big and bad Nikita Koloff is, he has something I want very badly and that's the NWA World title baby and the Universal Heartthrob is coming to get it!

Crockett: Should be an outstanding match up come July 2nd at the Great American Bash. Back to the ring.

Valiant: Paul Jones problems don't concern me. What concerns me is a man hitting me with a cane. Oliver has done just that, so at the Great American Bash, Oliver is the task at hand and if Paul Jones wants to get involved, go ahead, because nothing makes me happier than punching his face!

Crockett: (smiling) Hey Rock, how's it going?

Riddle: Oh Davey baby, I'm sure you're just loving this, aren't you? I'm surprised and disappointed at you. You have been my guy and the Agency always treated you with the upmost respect and what do we get in return? You laughing and having a grand ol time at Tom Prichard losing his TV title. Well guess what? The Agency's gem here isn't going to just sulk in defeat. You know Davey baby, a lot of movies open big at the box office then fizzle out. That is the reign Tommy Rich is going to have, because at the Great American Bash, Tom Prichard, a true box office smash, will regain his TV title!

Prichard: That's exactly right! Tommy Rich, you don't have the star appeal or charisma to be Television Champion.
