David Sammartino offering to teach Billy f'n Robinson a wrestling lesson? Good Lord!! The arrogance of that kid!

Bob Backlund offering to teach Brad Rheingans a wrestling lesson? OK, that makes some kind of sense.
Superstar going for the 10 Gs! Right on!
You are using Tiger Jeet Singh perfectly.
Great job of building up to the Bash, culminating with Dibiase's attack on Duggan.

Billy Graham should lend a lot of legitimacy to the 10,000 dollar challenge. Tiger Jeet Singh continues his madness and we can only hope Inoki and St. Clair are up for the match. Orndorff is looking ready for his rematch with Race and I think you need a no-DQ for where the feud is now. Davey Baby and Riddle had a great exchange, better than normal even. :) Hot 6-man to build heat for both feuds. DiBiase is putting the heat on Duggan big time. I can't wait to see Duggan's response.

Great show with so much happening. I enjoyed the Superstar "handshake." I wonder what Tommy Rich thinks of the way his cousin, Johnny, has been acting of late? I think Hacksaw needs some buddies. Dibiase is difficult enough but throw in Fernandez and Rude and that is almost unbeatable.

A lot of guys with injured arms in this project: Andre, Spivey, and now it looks like Backlund as well. Hell of a match. Dibiase is just the ideal heel champ right now.

In fact, there are good heel performances in every match here tonight.

Kirchner getting revenge on Kernodle is some pretty good story telling.

It's not so crazy for Iron Mike to ask for a tag team title shot. He held the Vancouver version of the NWA Canadian Tag Team belts twice in the late 1970s

You know who else held those belts at one time? Tiger Jeet Singh!! And do you know who his championship partner was? None other than Dennis Stamp (who is best remembered these days as the guy who reffed the Terry Funk vs Bret Hart match in Beyond the Mat.

I promise you, I am not making any of that up.

If Billy Graham can't slam Bundy, who can?

And: Another white-hot main event.

I enjoy seeing some of these classic venues in use here.

10 years ago, Superstar would have had KKb up for that slam.

Enjoyed seeing Sweet Brown Sugar with a big win here. I always mess up some of these midcard guys in this game and use them only as jobbers. SWB was fun to watch in real life.

Just read something that Race could always put on a great show and this was another example of it. Maybe because I never saw him in a consistent basis, I always thought he was kind of boring. What are your opinions of him? I should watch some of his classics and make a better decision

Glad you liked that segment with Sharpe. I thought that would be a fun little way to start the show. Iron Mike was best known as a JTTS in WWF but you're right, he did have a good resume before that. You're also absolutely right about the Singh/Stamp team. I never saw them as a team but read about that. I believe Stamp was also a brass knuckles champ in a territory run by Dory Funk. Hmmmmm, maybe it's time to book a Dennis Stamp comeback.

I also enjoyed watching Sweet Brown Sugar back in the day. He has become a very solid and dependable worker on my roster. He's the type of guy who generates excitement. I can have him in matches like this one here with Oliver and also love using him in 6 man tags with teams like Hot Property and Johnson/Cooley.

In my opinion, Harley Race could pull anything off. He had a tremendous arsenal of wrestling holds and maneuvers. He also had a rugged style and could break the rules. At this point in his career he was winding down but still was a tough solid worker and threat. Check out some of his 70s matches. I believe there's a really good one on YouTube between him and Ricky Steamboat.

I liked that Greenville got a heel heavy show to begin with, then Snuka gets one over on Kernodle with an assist from Kirchner. DiBiase and Backlund would have torn the house down.

Rip Oliver is proving to be a lot of trouble for Paul Jones. Fernandez and Rude with a good showing. Graham came this close, but just didn't have enough left to put Bundy away. Barn burner of a 6-man tag should have had the crowd ready for the main. Crazy end to the Norfolk show, Singh vs. Orndorff feud in the future?? Count me in!!

MACW @ WTBS Studios (Recorded 6-18-86) Aired 6-21-86

Schiavone: Hello again everybody and welcome to another edition of Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling. My partner David Crockett is out of town on business. We have a great program lined up for tonight as we get closer to the Great American Bash. In action will be US tag team champs, Rocky Johnson and Wendell Cooley. Tony St. Clair, Rolling Thunder, Caspian Empire and Don Kernodle in 6 man action. Sam Houston will be in the ring. We haven't seen Sam since Starrcade. Harley Race will be wrestling. Also in the ring will be Austin Idol as he prepares for his NWA World Title match against Nikita Koloff on July 2nd at the Great American Bash. Tommy Rich will defend his Television title against Ken Timbs of the Fabulous Blondes. Bob Backlund takes on Brad Rheingans, in what should be a heated contest. And Mark Youngblood clashes with Blackjack Mulligan. And finally, we will be graced with a live appearance by the United States Champion, The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase. I would like to hear what he has to say in regards to that 3 on 1 attack last week on Hacksaw Duggan. That attack has kept Duggan out of action and who knows when he will be able to return. As a matter of fact I'm sure the only reason Dibiase is here today is because he knows Duggan isn't. Fans, lets go to the ring.

Rolling Thunder vs. Tim Straw and Lou Simms

Morales gets the fans going as he swings Straw to the ropes and back drops him. Straw rolls over and tags in Simms. Simms charges but Morales hip tosses him and follows with a running forearm smash, then tags in Huber. Huber swings Simms to the ropes and hits a Powerslam! Huber picks up Straw and Airplane spins him. Huber tags in Morales, who swings off the ropes and hits the Senton for the pin! The crowd cheers as Huber and Morales shake hands and hug.

Commercial Break

Schiavone: Fans, with me right now is Rip Oliver and Paul Jones. Paul, everybody has seen the friction lately between you and Rip Oliver. How will this affect Rip's upcoming match with Jimmy Valiant at the Great American Bash?

Jones:  Boy you just love to stir it up, don't you Schiavone! Well, we're going to get this straightened out right now. Listen Rip, I brought you in here to get rid of Jimmy Valiant. It's that simple. Now,  I'm not sure what the problem is, but I need to know that you will finish the job on Valiant at the Great American Bash. How about it?

Oliver: The problem is you Paul and your obsession with Jimmy Valiant. You promised me opportunity and title shots but your obsession with Valiant as derailed all that. Your obsession has cost me matches. Now, here's the deal. I will take care of Valiant at the Bash, but not with your help. I don't want you at ringside, got it. When I'm done with Valiant then I want a title shot.

Jones is taken aback. He looks at his cane then looks at Oliver.

Jones: If that's what it takes to get rid of that lowlife pest Valiant, then fine by me. Also, if you do finish off Valiant at the Bash, then I'll see to it you will get your title shot.

Schiavone: Ok there you have it, a deal has been made. Lets go back to the ring.

Tony St. Clair vs. Roger Murphy

St. Clair snapmares Murphy, then jumps over him and hits a head snap and follows with a standing leg drop. St. Clair hits a suplex slam on Murphy then climbs up to the top turnbuckle. Murphy staggers up and St. Clair hits him with a flying body press for the pin! The fans cheer as St. Clair raises his fist to them.

St. Clair cuts a promo and says him and Antonio Inoki are pulling nothing back when they collide with Abdullah and Singh at the Bash.

Commercial Break

US Tag Team Champs Rocky Johnson and Wendell Cooley vs. Larry O'Meara and Todd Rooney

Johnson and Cooley look crisp with quick tags and solid teamwork. Johnson body slams Rooney and tags in Cooley. They swing Rooney to the ropes and double hip toss him then follow with a double drop kick. Cooley hoists Rooney up and hits the Oklahoma Roll then tags in Johnson, who puts Rooney in the Boston Crab for the victory! Johnson and Cooley are high fiving each other when all of a sudden, Los Infernales hit the ring with chairs!!! MS-1 nails Johnson from behind as Pirata Morgan nails Cooley. They drop the chairs. MS-1 body slams Johnson on a chair as Morgan does the same to Cooley. MS-1 gets up on the top turnbuckle and hits a flying knee on Johnson (laying on the chair) With Cooley laying on a chair, Morgan jumps off the top rope and drops a flying knee on Cooley. Those two teams will meet at the Great American Bash, but it looks like Los Infernales showed up here to send a hurtful message.  My goodness, Johnson and Cooley are being helped out by trainers. Fans, we'll be back.

A video montage of wrestling highlights is shown of the tag team of Kerry Brown and Duke Myers, known as The Stampede Rush.

Commercial Break

Schiavone: What an intense match we just witnessed between Backlund and Rheingans. Speaking of those two, I want to announce that on June 29th, MACW returns to the Philadelphia Civic Center. Listen to these matches signed. In a special attraction bout, Bruiser Brody will clash with Akira Maeda. Polynesian Power take on the Southern Ramblers. In a 6 man tornado match, The Assassins and Cobra collide with Hot Property and Sweet Brown Sugar, and Bob Backlund will face Brad Rheingans. It should be a hard hitting night of action and a great prelude to the Great American Bash. June 29th in Philadelphia.

The fans boo as Brad Rheingans storms to the podium, still reeling.

Brad: Tony, you are well aware of my wrestling credentials. Because of my reputation and resume, each and every time I go into that ring, I honor my reputation by keeping things clean. I go in there and win a match on ability. I wish I could say the same thing about Bob Backlund but I honestly cant. You saw it. The man is a cheater and has a blatant disregard for the rules. Rules are something I take very seriously in wrestling. I now have no choice. I'm the Professor of wrestling and now I'm going to have to teach Bob Backlund a lesson. Bob, you and I have a match in Philadelphia on June 29th. I'm challenging you to a submission match! It's time somebody put an end to your cheating ways.

Schiavone: I think Brad is a little delusional in calling Bob Backlund the cheater but the challenge has been made. Maybe a submission match is the only way to resolve this. Fans back to the ring.

Houston:  Thank you Tony and it's great to be here. And yes, I do have a specific reason why I'm here. This weekend in Miami I will be going after King Kong Bundy and the 10,000 dollars. Now I know he's a heck of a lot bigger and stronger than me but I've been wrestling with those odds my entire career. I've never backed down from a challenge and I'm always looking for a challenge. This 10,000 dollar challenge is about as big as it gets and you better believe I'm up for it.

The fans boo as JJ Dillon walks out with the briefcase. He looks over Sam Houston, smiles and shakes his head.

JJ: Son, listen to me real closely because your career and quite possibly your life depends on it. A lot of powerful wrestling veterans have come in here to try and get this here 10, 000 dollars. They all went down in defeat. Not just defeated, but they were crushed, they were squashed and they were flattened by King Kong Bundy. Looking at you and knowing what's going to happen, well I just feel sorry for you kid. I mean it's just sad and downright pathetic. This wont be a match, it will be a beating.  Please go home. You have a fighting spirit but that wont mean anything when King Kong Bundy hits the splash and breaks your weak ribs. Why don't you go back to school and get an education.

JJ arrogantly smiles and ruffles Sam's hair. Sam pushes his hand away and pushes JJ down on the ground as the crowd cheers and laughs. Sam steps over JJ on his way out. JJ rolls over in pain, grimaces and adjusts his glasses. Schiavone looks down at JJ, smiles and goes to a commercial.

As always, great job using your TV to build up to the big cards.

Brown & Myers were a top team in Calgary in the mid-80s. They should fit in great with your tag division.

Slim Sam Houston challenging King Kong is just great stuff.

Backlund vs Professor Brad and Youngblood vs Blackjack are great additions to the Philly card.

Anticipation for the Bash is almost too high now.

Great TV show that leads you nicely to the Bash.  I thought Duggan rushing out with the 2x4 was kind of a heel thing to do which was great as it shows how serious this feud has gotten that even the babyfaces are out of control.... perfect!

Professor Bob calling Backlund the cheater was funny.

Glad Wildfire has found a home and a mid-level title feud fits him perfectly at this point!

Schiavone: Ok there you have it, ... just this quote  brings me back to my childhood.  You have him down pat.

Race-Orndorff is a great match as it could go either way!  Between Dibiase, Duggan, Orndorff and Race, it seems like you have your biggest stars right where you want them... at the top!

You went on a pretty good tear of some great shows.  I think that you've got a very solid upper part of your card and instead of the Horsemen on top you have now got 6-8 guys who can move in here and there and really play different roles which also adds to the unpredictability of your cards. Ted Dibiase has cemented himself on top while Harley Race is also going for one more great run. Then you've got Orndorff who is a stud and star in the making. Throw in Sunka, Idol, Duggan, Tommy Rich, and even Bundy now all can jump in and be the prime timers of the promotion given their real life and in game experience.

I enjoyed the TIger Jeet and Tony St. Clair trading run-ins here.  NIce job with the main event continue your big angles without giving to much away.  Really hoping Sweet Brown Sugar continues on his roll here.  I have only seen a little of Pacific Northwest Wrestling but Rip Oliver seemed to be great as a babyface and as a heel.  Looking forward to seeing this new aspect of Oliver.  Putting Idol over the Iron Sheik here keeps him hot for his his next foreign encounter with the World Champ!

I can't stress enough how much you've made such good use of your midcard guys. A lot of them were virtual unknowns to me at some point and you made them an integral part of your cards each and every show. It's always a good thing for me whenever you can interchange midcard guys and put them in higher profile matches at all times.

Would love to see the Awesome Twosome get a shot at the Road Warriors.  DIbiase, Fernandez and Rude and Bundy have done a great job replacing the Horseman.  I was against the move at first but our options in the NWA are limitless right now because of your foursight to make the move.  It seems this game thrives on the unpredictable and having people live Flair and Hogan sometimes takes your freedom away as they seem lost without the belt.  When the NWA had Flair but the belt was on Martel, nobody seemed to know what to do with him but now my interest in the NWA is peaked.

I am also in love that Polynesian Power has reached the point of being on the same team as WIldfire and Snuka.

You made a great point about Flair. I had the hardest time booking him without the world title. A lot of people probably thought I was crazy trading away the Horsemen but I really think it has worked out so well for myself and Lowblow. Flair and the Horsemen are tearing it up in the WWF and Dibiase has become my top heel and his gimmick is working wonders in Mid Atlantic. I also have big plans for the Awesome Twosome and Bundy.

Glad you have enjoyed Polynesian Power. They have been a great addition to my roster and are steadily moving up the ranks. Their upcoming match with the Southern Ramblers in Philly will have a little bonus added to it.
