GAEA Wrestling

Business man Graham Stevens was touring Japan in 1985 and went to a local indie show where he saw Japanese women's wrestling for the first time. He was blown away by their skill and talent and knew that their talent needed to be shown to the world. A promotion relying on women was unthinkable, but Stevens dream was become a reality.

Enter GAEA Wrestling, named after the Greek Goddess of the Earth. GAEA has found a TV deal on Fuji TV to air "World Wonder Ring" starting Wednesday, July 2nd. VHS video tapes of major shows will distributed both in Japan and in the United States, as GAEA will feature wrestlers from both countries.

GAEA will make it's debut on June 28th at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo with the Memorial First Gong. That night will include a one night, eight women tournament to crown the WWA Champion (the World Wrestling Association will be the governing body of GAEA). This tournament will include 4 wrestlers from Japan and 4 wrestlers from around the world. The first two announced being Japan's Jaguar Yokota and America's Sherri Martel. More entrants will be announced later.

Also on the show there will be a tag team battle between The Jumping Bomb Angels (Itsuki Yamazaki & Noriyo Tateno) and The Glamour Girls (Judy Martin & Leilani Kai).

More exciting news will be released shortly!

Sherri Martel will not be coming to Tokyo alone. She is bringing with her the manager of Champions Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. Heenan says the Horsemen collect titles and the WWA Title will be no different.

The Crush Girls of Lioness Asuka and Chigusa Nagayo have entered the tournament as well. Two of the top talents in Japan, whether fighting together or alone.

One more name revealed is Monster Ripper from Canada. The most powerful name yet in the tournament.

The WWA title tournament is really tough to predict here as you got all 8 women who could legitimately win the whole thing. I think Lioness Asuka vs Sherri Martel will probably be the best match of the 1st round.

I don't know the exact brackets of the tournament but I predict a Lioness Asuka vs Monster Ripper final!

Did I say that Jumping Bomb Angels vs Glamour Girls will steal the show? :)

The Memorial First Gong just got bigger as the gentlemen of wrestling are making an appearance. On the card you will see the JWA stand out performer Naoki Sano taking on British superstar "Rollerball" Mark Rocco. A dream match for men's wrestling fans!

Now that the debut show is complete, it's time to meet the roster!

The Jumping Bomb Angels (Itsuki Yamazaki and Noriyo Tateno)

maxresdefault.jpg

Formed earlier this year, after a classic series of matches against each other, The Jumping Bomb Angels had tremendous chemistry from day one. From the same training class, these two are some of the hottest young high flyers in wrestling today. They have brought new moves that very few have seen, including missile dropkicks and an exciting array of suplexes. They have been called The Rockers of Japan.

After years on the indies scene, after debuting in 1981, The Angels are ready to make their mark on a bigger scale on Fuji TV. A set of tag team titles will be added to GAEA in the near future and The Angels are a top contenders for those future titles.

Check them in action on the "First Memorial Gong Show" taking on the American tag team of The Glamour Girls. A match that could steal the show.

The Crush Girls (Lioness Asuka and Chigusa Nagayo)

Lioness Asuka and Chigusa Nagayo are the reasons that GAEA Wrestling exists and on such a big stage on Fuji TV. This tag team is who Graham Stevens saw live in Japan and was so blown away, he knew that everybody had to see them.

Asuka and Nagayo debuted in 1980 after attending the same training camp. Amazing talents from the beginning, they formed a tag team in 1985 and have quickly became the top stars in Japan, outside of JWA. Recently they released a pop song that is currently a top ten hit in Japan. Although they are great technical wrestlers, they have been known to mix it up in brawls as well.

They are known as this great team, but individually they are two of the top wrestlers in the world and both look to become the first WWA Champion at the tournament on the debut show of GAEA Wrestling.

I really enjoy these profiles. It reminds me of the old days before a wrestler would debut, they would hype them up with vignettes. It's such a great way to introduce the wrestlers to the fans. The way your building up your roster has really gotten me invested in your tournament. Great job and looking forward to more.

GAEA World Wonder Ring (July 3, 2018)

Jackie Sato and Maki Ueda, the former Beauty Pair tag team who are now retired, welcome us to the first episode of World Wonder Ring on Fuji TV presented by GAEA Wrestling. For the next two weeks footage from GAEA's very first show "Memorial First Gong" will be shown, including the tournament for the WWA World Title. With no further adieu, here are highlights from the first round of the tournament.

First up is Japanese star Jaguar Yokota against Mexican star Lola Gonzalez. We see some nice brawling before Yokota hit a release German Suplex and picked up the win.

Japanese Lioness Asuka is shown making a comeback against American Sherri Martel. Just as she looks to be able to put Martel away, Heenan distracts the referee allowing Martel to cheap shot Asuka and roll her up for the win to advance.

The Canadian Monster Ripper is just destroying Japanese Chigusa Nagayo. Nagayo is a bloody mess and Ripper is taunting the crowd. That was her mistake though, as Nagayo fired up from there and hitting a flying dropkick off the top for the upset win.

In the final match of the first round, the American Wendi Richter is in a slugfest with the Japanese Dump Matsumoto, who has her Atrocious Alliance in her corner. Dump is limping, as Richter had focused on the knee all match. This slugfest is ended when Richter is tossed to the floor. Behind the referee Bull Nakano nails Richter with numchucks. That gives Dump the victory.

The Beauty Pair go over the second round of the tournament. Yokota will battle Martel and Matsumoto will face off with Nagayo. On next week's show highlights of the semi-finals and the complete finals will be aired. That is next week, but tonight we have a very special main event. The Glamour Girls taking on The Jumping Bomb Angels.

The Beauty Pair end the show telling everybody to tune in next week to see who becomes the first WWA World Champion!
