Confirmed for this week’s TV is LAX vs Team 3D in a rematch from last night’s show. TNAWrestling.com are also hinting at a “huge main event” for this week’s show, while there will also be build up to next month’s Against All Odds PPV, which will be headlined by Christian Cage vs Kurt Angle for Cage’s newly won NWA World Title.

TNAWrestling.com have this evening announced that Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles will be taped during tonight’s TV tapings in Orlando, FL, and will air this Thursday night on iMPACT.

As we reported a little earlier today, LAX vs Team 3D has also been confirmed for this Thursday night’s show on Spike TV.

Wrestlemag

And with a PPV rematch on free TV, it'll be the free TV that gets the clean finish.

So much for TNA protecting Kurt Angle from himself, as they allowed him to wrestle with a concussion. I suppose trying to boost ratings by a few hundredths of a ratings point is more important than his long term health and well being.

I know we harp on TNA a lot, but I think this is a valid point.

Is there anyone in TNA -- anyone -- that has a successful track record in the past 10 years of putting together programs that draw money and also of producing consistently good matches for any sustained period of time? Serious question not intended to be a troll. Sting and Angle have both have had moderate success, and Nash was part of a big turnaround for WCW, but I'm talking everyone in terms of people both in and out of the ring. When I look at the whole TNA group, I don't really see a group of people that have a track record of success. Russo, for the purposes of this argument, should be excluded because we've already had that debate. Dutch Mantel had a strong run as a booker in Puerto Rico, but either what works there and here are night and day, or Mantel didn't bring what helped him become successful in Puerto Rico to TNA.

The only names I can think of that would help TNA are Heyman, Cornette and Sapolsky. I know the big-time pro-TNA/pro-Russo people dismiss those people out of hand, for different reasons, but they are just about the only options that come to mind. For all of his faults when it comes to the financial side of things, Heyman is one of the best bookers when it comes to accentuating strengths and hiding weaknesses. If there is any shred of talent in somebody, then Heyman has the best chance of just about anybody to get that talent to show itself. Cornette might by dismissed as being too old-fashioned, and to some degree that would be correct, but the fact is that Cornette has a great eye for logic and for coming up with the most logical explanations to scenario's that make the least sense. If there is any way to logically explain a nonsensical angle or storyline, then Cornette can find that way. Not only that, but unlike Russo, Cornette will freely admit the mistakes he's made and will acknowledge when something isn't working. Sapolsky, and it's a cliche, could be the next big thing in booking. Sure, he's only worked on an Indy level so far, but no current booker has shown the level of understanding their audience like Sapolsky has. It was Sapolsky's booking of Samoa Joe that TNA patterned their booking of Joe after, but look at in which promotion Joe has remained special in. When it comes to getting talent over as stars to his audience, Sapolsky has done better than anyone else I can think of. People can dismiss his accomplishments as somehow not counting because of ROH only being an Indy, but the percentage of ROH's wrestlers that are seen as special, and have an emotional importance attached to them, by their fans is greater, I think, than just about any promotion out there right now. I'm not talking about ROH names being known on a worldwide basis, which is the crutch most people use when dismissing the Sapolsky argument. I'm talking about getting your audience to see as large a number of your wrestlers as possible as special, and that's something Sapolsky does better than anyone right now.
