  1. I need to get out and see more live shows. There are so many indy shows going on in my area but I always find some excuse to pass on them. I want to support these guys and gals and see what's out there. If there's any kind of meet-up groups or anything like that in the NYC area or if anyone has some recommendations on promotions to check out I'd love to hear about them.
  2. I like to call the heel's hope spot "the doubt spot". They build up doubt that the face is going to maintain control as the heel looks to make a comeback. When the face cuts the heel off I like to call it the "reassurance spot." The face reassures the crowd that he/she's got this under control. I think that if you have a few of these spots in a row then you get Parv's "can't get anything going." I dunno. The terminology's not very sexy but it seems to make sense to me.
  3. great show! I was a huge Bret Hart fan as a kid and really enjoyed this. Looking forward to listening to more of these.
  4. I'm not really a fan of the Bleacher Report, but I think from reading the intro to the article that the author's point was that the "ideal body type" for a wrestler has changed over the years and a lot of guys from the past might get overlooked in today's scene. There was a point a few years ago where every new guy that popped up in WWE seemed like he was a model for Men's Health magazine. I beleive his fat jokes are supposed to be from the point of view of WWE upper staff that would be evaluating talent. My thoughts...pretty much everyone on this list could get over and would find a way to make it to the "big leagues." They would just have a longer road to WWE. Maybe they'd have to work the indy circut for a while and build up a reputation. True, WWE is using guys like Punk and Bryan, but those guys had to put in a lot of work before WWE thought about bringing them in.
  5. My name's Rob. I'm 39 and I moved to Brooklyn two years ago. I grew up in South Florida and started watching wrestling as a young kid and then discovered the magazines around 1984. We had CWF and WWF on TV. When I visited my grandmother I was able to catch JCP/WCW, World Class and AWA on cable. I kinda lost interest around the time Hogan showed up in WCW. I would take a look at the TV every once in a while but I really wasn't following it. The WWE purchase of WCW sparked my interest and brought me back to watching. Lately I've been revisiting the past and enjoying the Kayfabe Memories board and the JCP/WCW podcasts that Parv and Chad are doing. Some of my favorites: Ric Flair Tully & Arn Great Muta The Von Erichs Barry Windham Randy Savage Ricky Steamboat Jerry Lawler Roddy Piper I've enjoyed reading through the yearbooks and catching up on a lot of stuff that I had missed during my "time away"
  6. I grew up in Florida but I loved watching AWA and World Class. I never had the chance to go to a live show but I still watched every week. It didn't bother me that they talked about Ft. Worth, TX or St. Paul, MN. I felt like I had a window into another world. I think a well-done regional show could support a small, semi-permanent crew and some rotating guests.
