  1. I don't take notes for all of the wrestling that I watch, but for whatever I do when I watch Chikara and NJPW (the latter I only started after subscribing to njpwworld.com). I have running Google spreadsheet docs for both, and mostly just record the basic match facts with a sentence or two of overall thoughts at the end. I find the Google spreadsheets helpful, as I can access them from whatever device I am watching from/have handy.
  2. Over the years I have gone back and forth on the Chi-Town Rumble and Clash as being the best match of the three...but currently I give Rumble the slight edge. As others have already said I just feel this entire match from beginning to end is spot-on, and I also think it is the most "accessible" of the three matches. That said I think the Clash match is fantastic as well, and would not be surprised if a couple of months from now I considered it the best of the three. I have always considered the WrestleWar match the weakest of the three, but still feel it is a great match.
  3. I'm going to preface this by saying that I am not compiling a top 100 list as I have way too many blind spots and am too new to this community. That said, I just wanted to chime in to say that Inoki (well, at least 70s era Inoki) did not need to be in the ring with a great wrestler to have good-to-great matches. Two matches in particular that I enjoyed watching this past year that fall into that category were his 1974-03-19 match against Strong Kobayashi (one of my favorite 1970s New Japan matches from what I have seen) and his 1975-06-26 match against Tiger Jeet Singh. The latter match wasn't great by any means, but in my opinion it was a good, enjoyable match against Tiger Jeet Singh of all people. Then again those two wrestled each other enough that perhaps the odds dictated that they were bound to stumble into a good match at some point!
  4. Unless I missed it, I think Naked Mideon has somehow been glossed over up to this point... And for the record, I think Mandkind and the likes of IRS and The Big Bossman made their respective ring attires work.
  5. Greetings everyone. My name is Matt and I got into wrestling as a little kid living in the Netherlands (American military brat living at a NATO base). My parents were mostly bemused my enjoyment of wrestling, but my English grandmother would actually watch it with me whenever she came to visit. While she did not "get into it" the way many English old ladies were known to, we did have fun watching it together. She seemed to particularly enjoy seeing Bam Bam Bigelow in action, or as she more often called him Bim Bim Bigelow. In fact for decades after she would sometimes ask me how old Bim Bim was doing. Anyways, once we returned to America I watched a good mixture of late 80s and early 90s JCP/WCW & WWF, before primarily becoming a WCW fan until the Russo years at which I mostly checked out of wrestling. Then sometime in the mid-2000s I started watching some random wrestling videos online (I guess after You Tube was founded, but in my head it seems like it was pre-2005), and started getting interested in American indy wrestling. These days I mostly watch NJPW World (never watched New Japan before and have enjoyed going through their older matches), Chikara (I know, I know...but I enjoy those wacky guys and gals), and still just watching random matches and segments from late 80s WWF and WCW. With all of that in mind I have been a board lurker for the past few months, and recently decided to take the plunge and register here. I will readily admit that my wrestling knowledge is quite limited compared to the vast majority of the active board members here, but still thought I would enjoy chiming in on some conversations and continuing to learn more about this crazy little "sport" we all love.
