  1. I think Disney announcing their service is only going to cost $6.99 a month has put a lot of pressure on the other streaming services to keep prices in line as there are now so many services people are paying for. You really need to make sure you have an audience willing to pay a premium for content.
  2. Vince was great, the only issue I have with him is he needs to be paired with someone as he will go quiet for long periods of time. A lot of the time the person he's paired with is awful though. What cracks me up is in these days TV built to the houseshows, and so far WWWF TV was far more exciting than any of the MSG shows that have appeared so far. If you're talking about the akward silence on these Network All-Star shows, I think that's where localized promos were inserted for each market. The silence at the beginning of the match was where they would insert a voiceover promoting the cards coming to your area. Spent many a Saturday morning listening to Howard Finkel letting me know which bouts I would be seeing at the Erie County Fieldhouse.
  3. Pat Patterson was another heal turning face, didn't want to work with Lou Albano who bought his contract from Grand Wizard.
  4. The MMA media is about as bad as the NFL media as to towing the company line, no one wants to get on Dana's bad side.
  5. As always tremendous show. I believe the Super Mario lookalike referee you guys were talking about was Gilberto Roman, the ref bumps he took almost seemed to be Terry Funkesque in their overselling. Also in regards to the referees being union and part of the athletic commission I always wondered about ref bumps,I am assuming they got some sort of bonus and I wonder who would be responsible for paying for any medical bills if one was injured.
  6. Actually because of the way satellites are positioned in space you can't do this, there are a set of satellites that cover North America, another set over Europe and so on. If the WWE purchased a transponder on a satellite over a different part of the wold I could see this being used for the network if internet is not available.
  7. I can understand not putting everything up at once, but I don't understand the slow dribble of content. Why can't they just put up a whole year of RAW's, say 1994, much like Netflix releases a whole season of their shows at once. Also the more variety of content the better, there might not be a lot of people who signed up to watch the MSG shows, but even a couple is better then zero. And it doesn't give a good impression to the fans who signed up for the classic stuff, when it seems they half ass putting up a lot of it, they may not stick around if they feel they aren't getting anything new. And skipping random episodes of what they already have up doesn't help either.
  8. On the MLS deals, they have deals with companies such as adidas and Budweiser which I'm sure funnels some ad money TV's way. Does WWE have any company of that stature willing to buy times during their shows.
  9. In regards to Southern Tag, why is that term used, were tag matches elsewhere laid out in a different way and if so were there a lot of differences?
  10. Longtime lurker, first time poster. My name is Joel, 43, born and raised in Erie, Pa so grew up with the WWF, remember seeing Bob Backlund as champion at a few house shows, and also got to see the Iron Shiek defend the WWF title against Sal Bellomo during his month as champion. Loved the Apter mags, even had a subscription to PWI and Inside Wrestling, best time of the month when they showed up in the mail. Does anyone else remember the Superstar Wrestling Game, each wrestler had their own card and you rolled dice to decide the moves, my friends and I played that for hours on end. Got cable when I was about 12, and with that was able to start watching Georgia Championship Wrestling and it transition to World Championship Wrestling. Could never figure out why their tours wouldn't come to my town, since they had a loop in Ohio, of course at that age didn't know anything about how the territory system worked. I so wanted to see Tommy Rich battle Buzz Sawyer in person. Lost interest when I went off to college, but got back into during the Monday Night Wars. That is also when I started following wrestling on the internet and discovered Japanese wrestling and became a huge fan of All Japan, building a whole library of videotapes, getting them from Jeff Lynch and other people online. Enjoying the WWE network and am hoping they will begin posting more of their 70 and 80's MSG et al shows as I still fondly remember those days. Been following ever since, probably more as a casual fan then anything. Enjoy reading the conversations hear and am amazed at the amount of knowledge a lot of the posters here have. Hope to try and contribute what I can to some of the threads.
